Islamabad: Pakistan has registered 617 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 289,832.
According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 15 people died of coronavirus problems during this period, bringing the death toll in the country to 6,190. The number of active coronavirus cases dropped to 13,633, while the number of recovered patients was 270,009.
In the last 24 hours, 17612 more samples were tested, bringing the total number of tests conducted nationwide to 289832.
So far, 126,182 cases have been reported in Sindh, 95,447 in Punjab, 35,215 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12,295 in Balochistan, 15,390 in Islamabad, 2,184 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 2,502 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Phase-3 trial of COVID-19 vaccine begins in Pakistan
The third phase of the clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine candidate has begun in the country after the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) approved the process.
A spokesman for the National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad said the vaccine was being developed by the China Biotech Institute, Cancino Biologics and the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology.
