NDMA, FWO continue to clear sewerage drains in Karachi

KARACHI: The cleaning of sewerage drains in Karachi continues on 2nd consecutive day by the teams of National Disasters Management Authority (NDMA) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO)

With the help of heavy machinery, waste is being removed from sewers from five places, which has prevented free water flow in the city during the recent rains.

The waste coming out of the sewers is being transferred to the landfill site.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a new monsoon season in Karachi on Friday and Saturday.

Urban floods are likely in Karachi and Hyderabad and floods are likely in the Khazdar Mountains on Friday and Saturday.
NDMA President Lieutenant General Mohammad Afzal told federal and provincial officials at a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday that the NDMA had work to clear the occupied canals in Karachi and that the city’s long-term measures would be taken as temporary measures. Sit together to solve problems. Reduce them instead of fixing them permanently.

Mohammad Afzal said the NDMA had organized a sanitation drive in the city and would take steps to reduce the effects of rain as compared to the past.
