Lahore: The National Bureau of Investigation (NAB) today summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-chairman Mariam Nawaz for questioning over an investigation into a case of "illegal possession" of hundreds of acres in Raiwind.
The bureau has setup the security arrangements for daughter of former chief Nawaz Sharif in his presence as there was a scuffle over security with the bureau’s Lahore office and surrounding police personnel to prevent any untoward incidents.
The party leadership ordered the workers to go outside the NAB office and the PML-N leader’s Raiwind residence and set up camps along the way to show solidarity with her.
The NAB asked her to appear before its Joint Investigation Team on August 11, explaining the 200 acres of land he allegedly seized in Raiwind in 2013 in violation of the regulations.
She must submit full details about the sale and purchase of the land as well as the arrangement of funds for the acquisition of the land. The bureau questioned whether she should give details of payment of fees and taxes for the purchase of land or whether the land was brought for agricultural or commercial purposes.
NAB also decided to investigate former DCO Noor-ul-Amin Mengal and Ahad Cheema in the case. In May, the NAB Lahore launched an investigation against the Sharif family for including hundreds of acres of land in Raiwind.
